For nearly a century, this company has been a global leader in insurance, risk management and consulting services. Over time, it learned that a large number of its employees wanted the option to use the technology brands they were familiar with and preferred in the workplace. It needed to evolve in order to appease its younger, more diverse workforce.
Insight had supported the business for more than two decades as a hardware and software provider, so the company reached out to see if we could help its team establish a scalable and manageable Apple environment.
Despite being on a constant growth trajectory, acquiring dozens of companies each year, the client had limited resources to design and implement an Apple environment. The company’s workforce was making use of 30 Mac devices. Each had been handled as an ad hoc case, requiring exceptional time to properly deploy, provision and connect. Additionally, each acquisition introduced more Mac devices into the corporate fleet. The business needed a way to seamlessly manage any and all devices.
Insight leveraged Jamf JumpStart to install and configure Jamf Pro and an Enterprise Connect engagement with our Apple Professional Services. The client’s IT organization intended to perform subsequent work on its own, but soon realized the task was more than it could handle.
Our team provided assistance with packaging, scripting, custom applications, policies, profiles and workflows. We established a protocol for integrating new Mac devices with the company’s Windows Active Directory (AD) and mobile accounts. We also created a custom solution for ensuring compatibility between its Apple environment and Cisco ISE platform.
The client had spent more time than desired trying to form the foundation for its Apple environment. We understood this, providing a way to radically transform the company’s approach to Mac devices in just six weeks, as opposed to the six months other providers were proposing. We successfully configured the Mac environment and handed over the keys, enabling the business to increase the size of its Mac fleet from 30 to more than 80 devices.
Over time, the client realized that it also needed ongoing management support from Insight to optimize its Apple environment and deliver the quality of service its end users expected.
Today, we’re providing Level 1 and Level 2 support for its end users through Workplace Services. There are plans in motion to manage the Jamf environment on an ongoing basis. Our work together has given the client both immediate and long-term results. Dozens of employees are now able to be their most productive using the devices they prefer, with less downtime and troubleshooting.
Now, the client’s IT organization can stay focused on strategic activities and special projects. And, looking ahead, as the company evolves and grows, it has solidified its position as an employer of choice — one that values the work styles and experiences of its team members.
