Defining IT & technology terms

Desktop as a Service (DaaS)

Desktop as a Service (DaaS) is a virtualization tool that gives devices secure access to IT resources and data. A DaaS provider hosts various IT infrastructure components — from compute and storage to applications — so users can access business critical resources through a web browser or software.

DaaS can be used to support remote workforces, fast-growing businesses and seasonal staff without increasing total cost of ownership around devices since IT can use a subscription model where they pay only for what’s needed. This service can be tailored to support an organization’s security and compliance needs while simplifying IT management requirements.
